Fracture Rehabilitation

Major advances have been made in making surgery as minimally invasive as possible, but it is normal after an operation to experience discomfort and swelling which can lead to loss of mobility, strength and function. Physiotherapy has a critical role to play in helping to address these issues, exercise prescription and importantly, education about what types of activity can be safely commenced at any given time so that the post-operative patient can be appropriately paced back to full activity. As well as ensuring the quickest possible recovery from surgery, physiotherapists can advise what is to be expected at various time points along the recovery pathway to provide reassurance and ensure the recovery process is as smooth as possible.
